The Paper Chase - американская альтернативная рок-группа, известная миру ещё с 1998 года. Создателем этого коллектива стал Джон Конглетон, который до сих пор является руководителем группы, совмещая в себе ещё функции гитариста и вокалиста. Также в состав группы входят: клавишник Сиан Киркпатрик, бас-гитарист Бобби Вивер и барабанщик Джейсон Гарнер. Часто вместе с группой выступают приглашённые музыканты, играющие на виолончели, скрипке, фортепьяно и альте.
Музыка The Paper Chase представляет собой противоречивую мелодию, пропитанную острым нойзом. Удушливые звуки гитары, напыщенная перкуссия, неестественные сэмплы и рокочущее фортепиано создают эффект кошмарного сна. Такая музыка очень органично вписалась бы в классические фильмы ужасов про зомби. Садистские темы песен с их кровожадными героями, звуки, прохожие на скрипы дверей, как будто обглоданные музыкальные фрагменты и трепещущая от страха бас-гитара ассоциируются с мрачными замками, полными приведений.
